PEACE NOW!
The Artist's Voice

The primary goal of the exhibition "PEACE NOW ! - The Artist's Voice“ by Peter Noever is to establish a forum, platform, and space for artists and art.

This extensive installation, situated in the Trinkhalle, Bad Ischl, Austria, on the occasion of the European Capital of Culture 2024, is located at the town's center. The exhibition showcases 28 positions / manifestos on the topic of peace, with specially created posters available in a limited but free edition. The exhibition "Peace Now ! - The Artist's Voice" serves as a critical channel to engage with power structures, counteract repressive tendencies and simultaneously kick off peace processes.

Especially today, war is presented as a controllable instrument to which there is apparently no alternative. Artists who advocate the confrontation of free thought and other points of view are defamed or hushed up.

Contemporary Manifestos by key artists such as:

Marina Abramović
Sergei Bugaev Afrika

The exhibition becomes a physical space of silence and harmony, a "shrine of peace". At the same time, the view is consciously directed towards the sky, the space that is so often dominated by airplanes and military missiles. Peace manifestos are written in the sky in a skywriting performance. For a brief moment, they occupy the airspace and give it a new meaning, allowing it to once again be understood as a source of hope and a symbol of freedom. This is a conscious rebellion against the firmly anchored definition of peace.

The skywriting performance brings an international message to the region, uniting the 23 communities of the Salzkammergut, symbolically brought together by a brief moment. A collective consciousness of the visitors and residents of the region is to emerge during this action and be perceived together. The project will be live-streamed and documented, giving it a lasting and widely visible virtual presence, encouraging cross-border calls for PEACE NOW !
