Heritage Day 2024

The motto of this year’s events on the occasion of “Heritage Day 2024” is “No Peace → No Art, No Heritage. PEACE NOW!

The central event is to temporarily store Zenita Komad’s sculpture “Die Waffen nieder!” (Lay down your arms!), which was realized a year ago in 2023, for archiving at “Die Grube / The Pit” in the form of a peace kit (“Friedensbausatz”). This means that this large-scale sculpture will remain at site until it is bought by MoMA, MAK or a collector and shown there!

The individual elements (approx. 6m long tree trunks) will be stacked on a specially developed metal construction, similar to an armored barrier and thus the legibility of Komad’s sculpture is “temporarily” interrupted. The act of temporary storage takes place with the participation of the public, a performance and statements on this peace object.

13:00
ART TALK with the well-known architect and architectural theorist Klaus-Jürgen Bauer and Peter Noever.
LIVE STREAM with James Wines, N.Y., artist and leading US architect and architectural theorist. This event will be live-streamed and can thus be followed by visitors on site as well as globally.

14:45
Introduction by Zenita Komad on her site-specific installation “Die Waffen nieder”.

15:00
MUSICAL INTERVENTION by composer, experimental musician, and trumpeter Franz Hautzinger will open the “archiving” of Zenita Komad’s large-scale sculpture “Die Waffen nieder”, created specifically for ‘The Pit’ in 2023.
